Personal Injury Solicitors Dublin | Harringtons LLP
If you have been injured and believe another person, business or organisation may be legally responsible, early advice can help you understand the claims process, preserve evidence and assess the next steps. David Harrington is the solicitor responsible for the firm’s personal injury practice.
Starting a personal injury claim
The first task is to understand what happened, who may be responsible and what evidence is available. Keep records of the incident, photographs, correspondence and details of any witnesses. Medical attention should be sought for health reasons and also creates a contemporaneous record of the injury.
Medical evidence and financial loss
A claim may require medical records and reports together with evidence of financial loss, treatment costs, travel costs or loss of earnings. The evidence required depends on the nature and duration of the injury.
Liability and causation
Compensation is not automatic simply because an injury occurred. The legal and factual issues may include who owed a duty, whether that duty was breached and whether the breach caused the injury and loss claimed.
Negotiation and court proceedings
Some claims resolve without a trial; others require litigation. We advise on the appropriate process, settlement proposals and the risks and practical consequences of court proceedings based on the circumstances of the individual claim.
