Michelle Ballance

Michelle Ballance is a Trainee Solicitor at Harringtons, having joined the practice in July 2023.

Michelle graduated from Maynooth University with an LLB in 2019 before completing a Master’s in Law in Criminology and Criminal Justice at University College Dublin in 2020. During her studies, Michelle completed a thesis examining the definition of sexual offences in Ireland and the UK, followed by a master’s thesis exploring the age of criminal responsibility in Ireland. She is currently working towards qualification as a solicitor, having completed her professional training at Blackhall Place in April 2025 and being due to qualify in early 2027.

During her time at Harringtons, Michelle has gained valuable experience in a range of complex legal matters. She manages the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court department and assists the civil side of the firm in the High Court for judicial review proceedings. This experience has provided her with a strong insight into complex litigation and the workings of the higher courts in the criminal and civil proceedings.

Michelle is motivated by the opportunity to continue developing her legal skills and to put the experience she has gained during her training into practice. As she progresses towards qualification, Michelle is looking forward to continuing to broaden her experience, further developing her advocacy and litigation skills upon qualification and establishing herself as a solicitor at Harringtons.
