Matthew Sweeney

Matthew joined Harringtons LLP as a Legal Executive following the completion of his FE-1 examinations in autumn 2024. He holds a B.C.L. in Law and English from Maynooth University, which he obtained in 2020, and an LL.M. in International Business Law from Maynooth University, completed in 2021. As part of his LL.M., Matthew spent a semester studying at Université Catholique de Lyon, where he also obtained a Master de Droit 1 qualification.

Since joining the firm, Matthew has gained valuable experience across both the criminal and civil sides of the practice. He has experience attending on counsel in criminal trials before the Superior Courts and assisting solicitors with the management of files, trial preparation, legal research and the drafting of legal documents and correspondence.

On the civil side, Matthew has developed experience in Circuit Court and High Court matters. He assists with the preparation and filing of proceedings and pleadings in both the Circuit Court Office and the Central Office of the High Court and often attends on counsel in relation to Circuit Court hearings and motions.

Matthew particularly enjoys working at Harringtons LLP because of the firm’s focus on providing clients with the highest standard of service.

He is especially motivated by the opportunity to assist clients who may be vulnerable or in particularly challenging circumstances, and aims to approach his work with professionalism, diligence and empathy.

Matthew is ambitious to continue developing his legal experience at Harringtons LLP, with the ultimate goal of commencing a training contract and qualifying as a solicitor.
