Aaron Sweeney

Aaron Sweeney is an Associate Solicitor with experience in both criminal and civil litigation. He represents clients in serious criminal matters and Garda station interviews, with particular expertise in personal injury and medical negligence.

Biography

Aaron is an Associate Solicitor at Harringtons LLP, specialising in criminal defence, with a strong focus on serious indictable crime and criminal appeals. Since joining the firm, Aaron has developed substantial experience representing clients before the Central Criminal Court, and has played a central role in the preparation and management of complex trials involving charges such as murder, serious assault, and organised crime. He also has extensive experience advising clients in Garda station interviews, ensuring their constitutional rights are upheld during every stage of the criminal process.

A qualified solicitor, Aaron completed the Law Society of Ireland’s Professional Practice Course and brings to his role a wide-ranging background in civil and commercial litigation. Prior to joining Harringtons LLP, he worked with leading firms in the areas of personal injury, medical negligence, product liability, banking litigation, and insolvency—managing high-value and high-complexity caseloads from instruction to resolution.

Aaron holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork, where he majored in Law and minored in Economics. He is also APA qualified in Loans, Financial Regulations, and Life Assurance through the Institute of Banking.

Outside of his professional practice, Aaron actively volunteers with the Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC), providing legal guidance to those in need through monthly remote clinics. His calm, strategic approach and dedication to client advocacy make him a trusted and effective presence both in and out of court.
